What is the best part about being a gym teacher at BHS?

Mr. Buck:

“It’s the best job in the school. Being a gym teacher in general is awesome, because everybody knows PE is the best class in the school. Some people might disagree, but, whatever. You get to be in a gym all day, you get to be around athletics, and it kinda levels the playing field as far as academics goes, and you get to earn a grade for it.”

“As a lifetime athlete and competitor, PE is fun. It’s an enjoyable class.”

Mr. Reed:

“Working with the students in an informal setting, so not a classroom setting. You get to be more open and free and get to know them.”

What sport is your favorite to play vs favorite to teach?

Mr. Buck:

“My favorite sport to play. I don’t know, I go back and forth between wrestling and football. But if I had to give a nod I’d go football. My favorite one to teach is badminton. Badminton’s a hit no matter what. As soon as the nets and rackets come out everyone is moving.”

Mr. Reed:

“My favorite to play is badminton. My favorite to teach is probably badminton.”

What are some hobbies that you have outside of school that students might not expect?

What is an album or song that is the soundtrack to your day at BHS?

Mr. Buck:

“The album is by Project Pat, and it’s called Mista Don’t Play: Everythangs Workin. Project Pat is a Memphis rapper. He’s my favorite of all time.”

Mr. Reed:

“Heart of a Champion by Nelly.”

What PE teacher do you remember from high school?

Mr. Buck:

“I wouldn’t say they were too involved or impactful, but one PE teacher I did have was in middle school, Mr. Fitz, short for Fitzgerald. He was probably my coolest PE teacher that I had. As far as the motivation goes for becoming a PE teacher. I had to just assess the things that I wanted to do with my career.”

Mr. Reed:

“His name was Chauncy. He rode around on a golf cart all the time in PE class.”
