Where are you from? Why did you choose to teach at BHS?

“I am originally from Syracuse, NY.  I chose to teach at BHS because of the amazing students and supportive community!”

Do you prefer high schoolers or middle schoolers?

“Both groups have amazing qualities – grateful to have the opportunity to work with musicians of all ages!”

What inspired you to become a teacher – what’s your favorite thing about it?

“My band teachers, when I was in school, inspired me to become a teacher.  Sharing their love of music with us (students) seemed like the greatest thing to do.  It turns out to be true!”

What hobbies do you enjoy outside of school?

“Hobbies that I enjoy outside of school are playing music, listening to music, reading, hiking, camping, golf and video games.”

If you could go anywhere in the world- where would you go?

“If I could go anywhere in the world right now, I would go to Greece to visit our niece who just started her college journey in Greece.”

What’s something about yourself you think people would find surprising?

“I once played a gig on a ship that is docked at Pier 66 in NYC (Manhattan) –  The boat is famous for having previously sunk & spent 3 years under water!”

What’s your favorite type of music? What’s your favorite instrument?

“It’s a very difficult question to answer because a lot of music is my favorite, but if I had to choose, my favorite type of music is Jazz.  My favorite instrument is the one I’m playing at the time!”

If you could only eat three foods for the rest of your life, what would they be?

“Oats, bananas & chocolate!”

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would you choose and why?

“You’ve Got a Friend In Me” by Randy Newman (Toy Story!)”

What is the funniest thing that happened during one of your classes?

“Devon said that I look like Pope Francis, ‘a young Pope Francis!'”
