Girls Cross Country competed in the New England Cross Country Championships last week. Only the top six teams in Vermont get a chance to race against over 75 schools from Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut.

“It’s hard to get in,” coach Kathryn Buchan said. “It was a big deal that we even made it.”

The team was missing their top runner Gillian Fairfax due to other commitments.

“I think the purpose of going without Gillian was just for the experience and to get underclassmen experience and for seniors to go there again,” Buchan said.

The race was held in Rhode Island on a 70 degree day.

“It was a great day to race,” Buchan said. “They ran well.”
