    Winter is here! Fresh snowfall is on the ground, and chairlifts have begun to spin at ski resorts around the region. As you get those edges sharpened, here is your guide to northern Vermont ski areas:

    Jay Peak:

    Known for receiving some of the most snow in the nation, Jay Peak is worth the drive up from Burlington.

    Prices: Full day: 64$ Half day: 54$

    Distance from downtown Burlington: 68.3 miles or 1hr 25 mins driving

    Number of trails: 78

    Number of Lifts: 9 1 Tram, 4 Quads, 1 triple, 1 double and 2 surface lifts

    Cost per Lift: Full Day: 7.11$ Half Day: 6$

    Stowe:

    Northern Vermont’s most expensive resort is known for its multitude of amenities and high-elevation location on Mt. Mansfield.

    Sugarbush:

    Located in Vermont’s Mad River Valley, Sugarbush is home to over 100 trails and hundreds of acres of pristine woods. The resort also offers lift-served backcountry skiing.

    Distance from Burlington: 43.4 miles or 56 minutes driving

    Bolton Valley:

    The closest major ski resort to Burlington, Bolton Valley is known for being affordable and family-friendly. The ski area is home to plenty of beginner and intermediate trails, in addition to some of the best backcountry terrain in the region. Bolton Valley is also the only resort to offer night skiing in the area.

    Smugglers’ Notch prides itself on being family-friendly and has a whole mountain area dedicated to beginners. The resort combines affordability with high-elevation and close proximity to Burlington.
