Students are not in school, many adults are working from home, and businesses are closing. Burlington community members are coming together to recognize the people who are being impacted heavily by the virus right now. Below is a look into how the New North End of Burlington is being affected by COVID-19.
The North Avenue – Plattsburg Avenue intersection, usually bustling with cars, was found empty on a recent morning.
The Flynn Elementary School parking lot, always full on a weekday afternoon, is completely vacant.
C.P. Smith Elementary School has removed nets on their basketball hoops to discourage people from playing communal games.
Many Burlington businesses, like Chinese restaurant Hung Tao, have put signs on their doors to inform customers of closures.

Burlington High School’s athletic complex is closed to the public to encourage social distancing.
Members of the community constructed a large “Thank You” message with space to write to the staff of the Birchwood Terrace nursing home. As of April 7, 22 staff and 24 patients have tested positive for COVID-19.
