Burlington: Norra Moody 1 Goal. Lola Rubin 1 Goal. Olivia Sullivan 1 Assist. Quinn Vachereau 9 Saves.
Middlebury: Jolee Heffernan 12 Saves.
The Burlington Field Hockey team headed out to Buck Hard Field this past Thursday (10/10) to face the Middlebury Tigers.
The Seahorses had lost their last three games in a row and were hoping to shift the tide. Middlebury had lost their last eight games in a row and came out strong hoping to break the streak. BHS and Middlebury fought hard the whole game with both teams having many chances on net, with the two goals of the game happening in the 4th quarter.
“I feel that everyone from the bench to the field came and played for the Seniors,” Coach Allyson Archacki said. “Our Seniors came to win and showed the fans that they were not going to stop until they did!”
Archacki was so impressed with the performances that she couldn’t choose a singular player of the game. She ended up choosing both Hawa Awayle ‘24 (Captain) and Norra Moody ‘24 (C).
“Awayle had many strong defensive moments where she controlled the ball out of the defense to transition it forward,” Archacki said.
Moody too earned the title of “Player of the Game” for “scoring first and creating a shift in momentum to generate an offensive attack,” Archacki said.
The Seahorses head to Essex today to face the Hornets (10/18).
